After doing our best to dig out this large root burr we had to settle for cutting it off its roots. We cut as low as we dared but still hit several stones, which meant a lot of resharpening.
This 6 ton digger is just about able to lift it!
Safely home in my yard with only the tricky job of deciding how best to cut it up to get the most from it…
There is probably a good ton and a half of solid through and through burr here.
The rest of the ash wood is seasoning as yet but I dried this offcut quickly and made a very attractive wall sculpture from it, which has been named “Magma” as it conjures up images of the earth’s core. I can’t wait to put some more of this beautiful wood to use and brighten up someone’s home with it.
